Kulture Break is honoured to have a new dance coach in Shekiralea Healy! Shekiralea has a passion for coaching young people, a passion developed over her 17 years of ballet training.
She began training part-time at the Lisa Clark Dance Centre in Canberra, where she participated in Eisteddfords, receiving first place for the Betsey Sawyer’s awards. Her success saw her undertake several auditions.
Shekiralea was then was accepted into the full-time ballet program at Melbourne City Ballet. She took on corps and principal roles in the Melbourne City youth ballet seasons of Giselle and The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, performing alongside the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.
Shekiralea also participated and performed in the Joffrey Ballet School’s summer intensive in New York, as well as trained as an emerging artist at National Theater Ballet School, where she performed in act 2 of Swan Lake and assisted with choreography for a contemporary production. Her studies include the study of the Ceccetti and Vaganova syllabus and she has completed RAD examinations up to advanced 2.
Her teaching career began at the age of 16 as an assistant dance coach, and she later received her Diploma in dance. Her biggest passion has been teaching – guiding and assisting students to grow into the dancer they aspire to be. We’re looking forward to her working with our wonderful Kulture Break community!
