Ladies 1st is a risk prevention dance mentoring program that uses dance to develop life skills. Our aim is to bring youth from all backgrounds together to learn skills, make connections, participate in mentoring and feel empowered through dance. Ladies 1st is targeted for young women aged between 12-17 years.
Our program goals evolve around four main pillars:
- Belonging – being accepted
- Generosity – giving to others
- Identity – self understanding
- Mastery – learning life and dance skills
The program runs on a weekly basis during school terms on Tuesday evening 6.00pm – 7.30pm at our Kulture Break Studio in Erindale. Classes will generally follow the structure of half an hour of mentoring and an hour of dance/fitness.
A registration fee of $50 per semester per student is payable upon enrolment in the program.
The Ladies 1st program provides two options of contribution to support Kulture Break’s values, either through our PICP program or our payment option.
Please note that any extracurricular activities and social outings may incur an additional cost.
1. PARENT INVOLVEMENT COMMITMENT PROGRAM OPTION
The Parent Involvement Commitment Program (PICP) provides an opportunity for parents to make a significant contribution to partner with Kulture Break to support their children and the community. This program involves parents signing up to the KB VTeam (Volunteer team) and participating in voluntary work throughout the course of the semester/year to assist with KB events. The minimum PICP requirement is 15 hours for the year or 8 hours a semester of voluntary work. Parents choosing to participate in the PICP program are expected to attend a volunteer induction.
Please note that parents who have not completed a minimum of 7.5 volunteer hours by the end of Semester One will be charged the $400 semester fee.
Volunteer hours may include:
- Assisting at fundraising events (eg. BBQ’s, selling raffle tickets, etc)
- Assisting with Kulture Break promo and open days
- Assisting with Kulture Break major events (expo, Dance Nation, Christmas Concert)
- Helping with our Community Days
- Providing a service free of charge
2. PAYMENT OPTION
For those parents who prefer the payment option, a charge of $400 is payable to Kulture Break for the semester of your child’s involvement. Payment must be made upfront unless alternative arrangements have been made with Kulture Break management.
NOTE | the current capacity of the group is 16 and if the program reaches it capacity a waiting list will be formed for those interested in joining.
